A day out with Orly.

Hey dolls, I’m back in blogging mode. A couple of weeks ago, before I went into cyber hibernation, I was invited to Grafton’s for a training course in Orly manicure! I was so EXCITED to go as I had never done anything like that before. Grafton’s is a distributor of many brands, a lot of which can be hard to get a hold of readily in the UK. These include Orly, ExFlow & IDB along with many, many others! Any who, I was joined by the lovely Leanne from DO NOT REFREEZE, Sarah from I HEART COSMETICS, Katie & Farrah who’s the lovely Marketing & PR doll that organised it for us (she also blogs on over as MAKE UP IT GIRL). Our teacher for the day was the lovely Laura - you can tweet here over HERE.

Prepare to be bombarded with pictures NOW

We were all given a little folder with all the information about nails, nail care and Orly. I did not know that Orly, well Jeff Pink the founder, INVENTED the French manicure!! I learnt a lot of stuff during the course which I didn’t know previously :)

Look at all the PRETTY colours they do!

I just had to take a picture of my FAVOURITE lines ;) Corals, pinks & reds.

Laura had set up a table with all the Orly manicure products. Some of them were real interesting & fun to use which you’ll see further DOWN the post.

After all the background knowledge was given to us, Laura gave us a demonstration on the different stops of a Orly manicure. Farrah was the lovely MODEL for the day.

Here Farrah’s got her fingers in Orly’s nail whitener which FIZZES every time you move your hands - it feels so nice!

It’s cuticle pushing & filing time! The metal cuticle pusher (I forgot the brand  ) was FAB, I have to say!

I had to take a picture of the scrubbing part of the manicure. I’ve never had my arms scrubbed during a manicure but it definitely left my hands super, duper soft & somewhat EDIBLE - it smelt like chocolate rice crispy cakes ;)

This was the self warming hand repair wrap… Seriously one of the BEST inventions ever!! They should make bubble bath like this - self warming anything, especially during winter, is a must have!

Last but not least, it’s polishing time! After watching the demonstration we were let LOOSE! Okay not really but we were given the chance to do a Orly manicure! My partner was the Sarah, who was a doll! Unfortunately I didn’t take any pictures of that as we were too busy yapping away :) But none the less… It was such a lovely day filled with lots of information, laughs & manicure fun!

Here we’ve got me, Laura, Farrah, Katie, Sarah & Leanne. The LOVELY Orly Manicurists ;)

At the end of the day we were all given a certificate for our training! I can’t wait to do manicures now. FIRST person on the list is my mother bear :)

We were all given some Orly products to TRY out & also…

… I went a little CRAZY in the really cute shop they had in their office. Yes, a shop!! LOL. I managed to snap up 2 of their new polishes in their ‘Precious’ spring collection 2011, as well as one from their ‘Plastics’ collection :) So make sure you watch out for some swatches & reviews.

The whole day was really good - I’d like to say a huge thank you to Farrah & Laura for giving us this amazing opportunity You’re both so lovely! If you live near Tamworth I would definitely recommend Graftons for TRAINING in nails & many other beauty areas! Check out their website HERE for more details :)

Have you tried Orly products before? I had only tried them once, YEARS back when I had a manicure in America but am definitely loving the quality of their polishes!
